i've been thinking arent ODST's just really bad paratroopers. I mean they fall from the sky but the paratroopers had grace and and a big kite while odst are just shoved in a lunchbox and thrown at a planet.

Dark we should do Band of Brothers ODSt style!!!!!!!!!!!!! Same story and characters but as ODST. They can even invade france

actually the ODSTs have a better chance at survival than paratroopers. Paratroopers fall down gracefully with large parachutes that can seen more easily by enemies and therefore shot down more easily, while ODSTs are hurtiling down liked meteors from space giving them both speed and armor protection so they are less likely to be shot down, and maybe fool the enemy into making them think they are meteors... also they are being shot from space, if they parachuted they would either be lost in space foreverif miscalculated, or burn to a crisp in the planet's/ Halo's atmosphere.

i think the meteor thing would work a couble of times but lets face it it would get kinda obvious. and those pods arent safe

Obviously they are safe considering a slipspace portal that almost leveled the city couldnt destroy any of the pods.

weasel look at how many pods were dropped from the ship and how many ODSTs survived.

yeah... I'm gonna stay away from the sight for a few months now since you guys are going to be chatting about ODST and I don't wanna hear any spoilers.

if u read the books the pods dont sound very safe and the enemy will always see u coming if they dont see u they will sure as shit hear u! with a paracute the plane flys high enough they dont hear or see u and if u drop at night the will not see u until its to late. also depends on how many people r being dropped.
